Playland-Not-at-the-Beach will be open for an extra day of fun every Friday in July, and we're celebrating with a pinball tournament! The tournament has a casual vibe and is intended to be beginner-friendly. We encourage pinball fans to participate regardless of experience or skill level.
The tournament begins promptly at 7:00pm so earlier arrival is encouraged. Tournament only admission of $15.00 begins at 6:00pm. Playland-Not-at-the-Beach opens at 12:00pm on Friday, July 24th so players are welcome to arrive as early as they like to practice (there will be an additional $5.00 admission fee for admission prior to 6:00pm). Sorry, no coupons, discounts, or multi-visit passes accepted for tournament admission.
The tournament will use a double elimination format, with the best-of-three matches in the winner’s bracket and the best-of-one match in the loser’s bracket. Prizes will be awarded for the top four players as well as the highest placing woman player (sponsored by Belles & Chimes Woman’s Pinball League), the highest placing youth player (under 16 years of age), and the highest placing novice player (world ranking no better than 2,000).
This is an International Flipper Pinball Association sanctioned event and full World Pinball Player Ranking points will be awarded.
Playland-Not-at-the-Beach does not serve food or drink, but you are welcome to bring your own (beer and wine are not permitted at this event, sorry).
Playland-not-at-the-Beach has 30 pinball machines from all eras! Any machine in working condition on the day of the event will be fair game for this tournament, and how many games we use for the tournament depends on attendance. However, the tournament will have an emphasis on later electro-mechanical and early solid state machines. So if you want to visit Playland-Not-at-the-Beach earlier to practice, you would do well to focus your practice time on the following games:
• Big Game (Stern, 1980)
• Circus (Bally, 1973)
• Circus Chimera (Custom, 1979)
• Flight 2000 (Stern, 1980)
• Haunted House (Gottlieb, 1982)
• Hokus Pokus (Bally, 1975)
• Jungle (Gottlieb, 1972)
• Pro-Football (Gottlieb, 1973)
• Roller Coaster (Gottlieb, 1971)
• Split Second(Stern, 1981)
• Travel Time (Williams, 1973)
