We laughed and cried together, in all of our introverted glory. You made us feel safe when the world was spinning out of control. We love you Afternoon Delight; we would be slightly more lonely without you.
We love how you taste of Costco. Plenty of snacks for the stoners. Your golden fringe and rainbow streamers are like sweet willow branches whispering in the wind. Your sounds are thunderous and hypnotic. You have provided us with amazing DJs, young and old. The ringing in our ears provides memory of Sunday's come and gone. We will never get our brain cells or hearing back, but you are worth it Afternoon Delight. Life is short and it is a pleasure to spend these moments with you.
You have always been sweet to us. You include and respect all of us for who we are and you provide us with a safe place to express our true selves. We are, in these moments, free from stupid social-hierarchy and media-perpetuated stereotypes. When we dance on your bosom and thick booty, we forget about our differences, we are as one. You leave all bullshit outside your front door, and this is why we love you. All people are embraced by your loving arms. House music culture is revived, we are reminded of the days when ego and popularity were never part of the program. Thank you Afternoon Delight, for keeping your promise and intention. You are creating Queer culture from a place of love, healing and inclusion.
This Sunday, we come to you to WORSHIP the Gawds of house music, disco and funk. We will LIVE and be re-born, baptized in heavy Bass, cleansed with clear highs, and memorized by melodic mids. Female vocals on fleek! Allen Craig, Joshua and Justime are the resident Disk-Preachers and will be giving you poly-rhythmic sermons to sooth your soul. Afternoon Delight, please heal us with more Sin! May we be enlightened by counter-culture witchery and mischievous behavior.
