GEORGE CLINTON - http://georgeclinton.com/
Parliament-Funkadelic is a Funk music collective headed by George Clinton , that specialized in the style of music known as P Funk and performed under the names Parliament and Funkadelic (two bands comprised of the same members, recording for different labels), but also in a score of offshoot groups and solo ventures. Recording under a myriad of names, this group had thirteen Top Ten hits in the U.S. R&B music charts between 1967 and 1983, including six number one hits in the R&B Charts. They were elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
Collectively, the group has existed under various names since the 1960s and has been known for top-notch musicianship, politically-charged lyrics, outlandish concept albums, and memorable live performances.
LA MISA NEGRA - http://www.lamisanegra.com/
La Misa Negra is a 9-piece band from Oakland, California that plays a unique blend of 1950's and 60's style cumbia and high-energy, Afro-Colombian dance music. Powered by horn and accordion-driven riffs, a fierce rhythm section, and a vintage Colombian sound, La Misa Negra delivers an electrifying performance that explodes with infectious dance grooves and punk rock energy. Since their live debut in the fall of 2011, they have toured around the US, playing shows and festivals with the likes of Arcade Fire, Thievery Corporation, Balkan Beat Box, Ozomatli, Ana Tijoux, Bomba Estereo, El Gran Silencio, Celso Piña, and many others. On the strength of their wild and one-of-a-kind shows, La Misa Negra has gained a reputation as one of the most exciting live bands to emerge from the Bay Area in recent years, garnering a diverse fan base that transcends musical, cultural, and generational divides.
