Queer Camp Bay Area has partnered with OLOC (Old Lesbians Organizing for Change) to host a brunch with Millennial female-identified queers and Old Lesbians.
It is obvious that this event is not fully inclusive in terms of
age or gender. We are intentionally creating a very specific gathering --we have chosen to connect female-identified queers and lesbians who are under 35 or over 60 because these groups are potentially unfamiliar to one another and we want to build bridges over brunch.
I get the impression that millennials identify less and less with words like female, feminist and lesbian. I attended the Bay Area OLOC’s recent millennial queer women/old lesbian dialogue on feminism and it truly was amazing. This is a beautiful opportunity to connect with young people and elders.
DATE: Saturday April 2, 11 am – 2 pm
FOR: Millennial queer women (teens to mid 30s) and old lesbians 60+
PLACE: Niebyl Proctor Marxist Library for Social Research, 6501 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland (cross st. Alcatraz). *Wheelchair accessible
SPONSORED BY: Bay Area OLOC (Old Lesbians Organizing for Change), Queer Camp (a summer camp for "grown-ups," www.queer-camp.org), and Pacific Center for Human Growth (www.pacificcenter.org).
WHY? Bay Area OLOC’s recent millennial queer women/old lesbian dialogue on feminism was magical and inspiring ... we wanted more opportunities to hang out and become better acquainted! We’ll spend some time in mixed-age foursomes to get to know one another, plus there will be plenty of open time to mingle.
Buffet brunch, lots of variety including gluten free, sugar free and vegetarian.
