Bee Geiger (https://www.facebook.com/HoneyBeeDesigns5653), organizer and tailor extraordinare of NOTAFLOF Community Collective Salon and Artspace, is running a sliding scale introductory sewing class that will teach basic sewing and clothing alteration skills, focusing on the specific needs of queer/trans/non-binary bodies (this class will be quite basic...this is for people with minimal if any sewing experience). Sliding scale, spots limited, with priority given to queer/trans and POC individuals and people willing to bring & share sewing machines.
Sliding Scale $5-$25
Please Sign up at the link above. There are 18 slots (9 for students with sewing machines and 9 for those without), first come, first served (we will keep adding classes to accomodate whoever wants to learn [but if any POC or trans people are having trouble signing up, contact Bee at Honey Bee Designs: Queer Tailoring and Design and she will helo you out!]).
*****Accessibility measures which are important to us*****
We are a wheelchair-accessible space, however our bathroom is not yet wheelchair-accessible. We sincerely apologize that this makes our space inaccessible for some folks in our community and we will remedy this as soon as our budget allows.
We have ASL interpreters available upon request for events, and will host a few events per month which will already have interpreters present. Please let us know at least a week in advance if you would like to request an interpreter.
We are in the process of working with our community to provide an event space free of fragrances and chemicals that might be harmful to people with allergies or chemical sensitivities. We kindly request that you do not wear fragranced products or oils.
Please smoke only in designated smoking areas (not in front of the building). Please also keep in mind that many chemically-sensitive people will get sick from the smoke clinging to your clothing and hair and we encourage you to wear a "smoking jacket" you can take off when entering our space.
We prioritize the health and well-being of all in our community. If you come to our event wearing heavy fragrances then we unfortunately will have to ask you to step out because it puts other community members' health at risk. We appreciate your consideration and understanding.
Here is a helpful link for you to learn more about being scent free: http://eastbaymeditation.org/accessibility/scentfree.html.

And last but not least, we are a sober space. No alcohol, weed or other drugs may be consumed on the premises. ♥
