Group Photo Exhibition - Iran Unveiled

OPENING RECEPTION IS TOMORROW -- Saturday September 17th, 5-8pm. Come out and see this unique photo project, curated by San Francisco local Mahya Jaberiansari, and co-curated by local artist Arash Shirinbab. The collection allows you to experience the country up close and personal, through the lens of 9 Iranian photographers residing in Iran and America. *THE OPENING RECEPTION IS SET TO TAKE PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 17TH FROM 5-8PM AT KALA ART INSTITUTE* DETAILS OF THE EVENT: We have all sorts of exciting things planned for the opening reception: - Special guest speaker (TBA) - A chance to talk to the artists and curator (in-person and virtually) - Persian food and drinks will be served - Abundant street parking available - Free entry and open to the public - All work is for sale *THE EXHIBITION WILL BE UP THROUGH OCTOBER 1ST AT KALA ART INSTITUTE* Hours and Days: Tues-Fri: noon to 5 pm Saturdays: noon-4:30 pm. Sundays: by appointment only. Mondays: CLOSED. *** Iran has one of the richest art heritages in world history and encompasses many disciplines including architecture, painting, pottery, calligraphy, metalworking and stonemasonry. But for far too long, the world has only seen Iran through the lens of politics, sanctions, and history leaving out the realities of its arts, life, people and places from the conversation altogether. This is why these 9 young artists have come together: to challenge and attempt to shift the conversation toward the realities of what Iran is as a country and disengage people from the misconstrued image of Iran in the media. It is clear that not all the realities of a society are pleasing; the mission of this project, however, is to reflect the side of Iran that has been missing from the mainstream media and dialogue.
